WIth matchday 26 almost finished, today let’s take a look at different key moments from the games this weekend.
The Curse of the Bruno Award
In the 3rd game week, Manchester United took on an exciting Brighton team, after coming off of a disappointing 3-1 loss to Palace. Maupay ended up scoring from the penalty spot with a panenka, before mocking the Old Trafford faithful with a crying celebration. In that same game, Bruno Fernandes scored a penalty after full-time (yes, after full time) to win the game. It appears that Fernandes wasn’t ready to forgive Maupay yet, as the penalty spot god cursed Brighton to miss 2 penalties in a disappointing loss to West Brom. Only time will tell if the Seagulls can be forgiven before they face the drop.
The You’ve Cursed The Evil Curse Award
Bruno Fernandes. The revolution behind Manchester United. He salvaged the top 4 and led an unlikely (even if it was short) title charge. However, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has decided that Bruno is not worth it, and has played Fred and Mctominay, isolating Bruno out of the game. However, don’t be quick to blame the midfielders. It is because of two slow center-backs that box to box midfielder Mctominay is forced to stay back. With Bailly fit and Lindelof and Maguire looking worse than ever, you have to wonder if Bailly’s pulled a Zaha on Ole.
The Bitter in The Sweet Award
Liverpool scored twice against Sheffield United, reaching a milestone of 7,000 club goals. Great right? Wrong! This achievement has actually brought up the fact that Everton have over 100 more club goals than their city rivals. What a shame for Liverpool fans. You won be able to celebrate the Carabao cup, FA cup, or Premier League and now, you can’t even celebrate scoring against the bottom team in the league.
The Where Did that Come From Award
Fulham ended Matchday 26 with a 0-0 draw to Palace. Routine stuff. What isn’t routine is the fact that they are now just 3 points off Newcastle, and have a superior goal difference. We always hear the stories of Leicester’s great escape, but considering Fulham managed to concede 3 goals assisted by Willian on matchday 1, this could be considered just as shocking. Look out Jim James, my bold predictions seem to have bested your common sense.
Well those were some key points from matchday 26, as of now there is still a match of Southampton vs Everton so expect a thrilling game. I am a jinx king after all. And on that note, this is Jacob King, and I’ll see you at full time!
