Good afternoon Jim

Good afternoon Bob

Thanks everybody for tuning in

And I a this is the 2021 NBA Mock Draft Bob versus Jim chat article

The first time we’ve ever done one of these

that’s right

And the draft Thursday night and a summary for today; we are going to just going to talk about our Mock Draft so if you’ve been see that post to go ahead go to our website bobandjim.ca and go and go see it for our top 10 draftees  they’re the two most recent posts at the minute so here we go!

All right Jim why don’t we start with the number one pick

So we should do this on count of 3, 2, 1: Cade Cunningham as I mentioned in my blog post 50 in 1 not 1 in 50 so yeah so it’s it’s a pretty high chance to say the least and I see no Universe where he’s not the number one pack what are your thoughts Bob

How many guys say the top four choices are interchangeable and yet whenever you ask them who’s going to be the number one pick everybody says Cade Cunningham so he’s going to underline the undeniable skill level, Jim, he reminds me of Luka doncic to be honest really smart he sees the court really well he’s an excellent passer he’s got a very very high basketball IQ and I think he’s set to lead a team into the next decade

There you are, you heard from Bob first.

All right Jim, what’s move on from the number one pick in the start our discussion about the number two pick

So, my number to pack is going to be the Jalen Green from the G League Ignite Squad he is he is by far the best scorer in this draft believe he scored 25 points a game in the G League Ignite and first this is versus former NBA players and he definitely has the most upside in my opinion it definitely has the most upside in my opinion in this draft great shooting and I think he just has the mentality to to get ready in this league to get succeeding in this basketball league and I think you should Rockets would be fool not to take him No.2

You know what’s interesting Jalen green I have Green at number two as well and Jalen Green is the name that you hear most often when you talk to people about anybody potentially upsetting Cade Cunningham and going first and yet nobody will actually say that they would take Jalen green first but I think I think out of this draft he has the best potential to be a top scorer in this league and with Houston light on top and I don’t think they could really afford to pass that up people are going to talk about Mobley here but mostly is a project at best a project whereas green 19 years old but he’s been playing against men in the GV so we’ve had a good look at potentially what he’s going to be 19 years old I don’t think you can pass that up.

I agree with you there Bob.

All right so number three, this is the first place where Jim’s made an error I mean er Jim and I are have a difference of opinion and this is the way I see it Jim, I see every draft has a bust and I think this draft the bust is going to go at number 3 and I think the name of that bust is going to be Evan Mobley and let me tell you why I think that and why is going to go at 3 I think Evan Mobley, he’s a tall lanky skinny guy 7 ft look pretty good against college guys but I don’t think he’s I don’t think he’s he’s going to turn into what anybody thinks I just think being tall and thin are not enough in the NBA and I think the reason that they’re going to go number three is because the Cavs have a historically horrible track record drafting inside the  top 10 except of course of LeBron James so I think they’re going to take Mobley at 3 Jim, that’s what I think’s going to happen

I mean I know if anyone could mess up this draft pick it could be it would be Cleveland, but I just have to disagree with you there I think that they’re going to take Jalen Suggs at the number three did not just because they don’t like mostly but because they really really like Suggs so I would I would think that they like him just for that he was the leader of a team that made it to the final he he’s of clutch guy he’s the mister clutch of this draft he’s one of the one of the best outside the 3-point arc in this draft which is something I think Cleveland a really lacking right now I mean I can’t really eat name any guy who’s a deadeye on Cleveland right now so I think that Suggs, he’s the right guy to take a number three and I think Cleveland they’re going to are going to take him number three.

All right, let’s move on to number four where Jim’s made it even bigger mistake I mean where we have even a bigger difference of opinion has that I have that number for Jalen Suggs going to the Toronto Raptors

I would love for that to happen but I think that’s going to be Evan Mobley just for the sheer reason that  we I mean the Raptors are going to luck out I think that they’re going to either have to be forced to get Mobley or they’re going to have to trade down in there what is something that is going to happen where they’re not going to get either Jalen. look at me The Optimist

Jalen Suggs, he’s comfortable sacrificing shots in the interest of Team success if that doesn’t sound like Kyle Lowry I don’t know what does consensus says he’s the best Prospect here and I’m sure that if he’s available at 4 I’m sure that he will be where Jim and I Really have our difference of opinion is if he thinks that Suggs is going to go 3 and that’s fine if Cleveland have their head on straight that that’s what they would do that would mean that nobody would follow to 4 but I think Masai Ujuri and Bobby Webster are too sharp to what effect will be here and I think if Mobley Falls to 3 to 4 I would guess that the the Raptors instead of taking Mobley would take Scotty Barnes or Jonathan Kuminga with their pick but for Jim

let’s hope but I just don’t think that they’re going to not sure Bob

Jim believes that Cleveland with a track record of taking bad pics is actually going to turn it around this year and take a good pick and Toronto who has an historically good record under Masai and and Webster making good picks is this year going to lose their heads and make a bad pick

Now that you say that…

All right Jim, I’m glad we got this on paper already so I can feel Jim wanting to change his mind as we sit here ladies and gentlemen.

Okay Jim that moves us onto the number five pick where I’ve got Scottie Barnes to the Orlando Magic he’s arguably the most versatile defender in this class and with the NBA becoming a lot more switch heavy team want a guy who can defend guards wings and a kind of do it all but I think he’s a good pick for Orlando here

Look at big man talking here I think that Orlando is going to pick Jonathan kamanga I really like Jonathan kuminga he has to, with Green they really really did well at the G-League Ignite Squad and I could see him maybe not leading a team but he will be a very good 3 or 4 option on a championship team here I could definitely be an All-Star if if he puts it together and I think that that Orlando should take him number 5 if he is available

I don’t see that Jim, he’s a huge project I don’t think that Orlando is really wants to wait I think they want to get out of the rebuild now and if they picked Kuminga that would put them some 3 to 4 years out

Well if they wanted to win now why it would they trade Vucevic and Fournier at the deadline?

I think there was more going on than we knew about

Now look at Bob the conspiracy theorist here that doesn’t that’s not really much of an answer folks I’d be surprised if you’re convinced by his argument

Who do you have at Number 6, Jim?

Davion Mitchell

Oh boy

the leader of the championship team why shouldn’t you take a bit numbered why shouldn’t you take him at number six he’s a very very good player we saw that with Baylor  and and the entire team shutdown Jalen Suggs Drew Timme and Joel Ayayi, they won the championship in the final you saw how how quiet Gonzaga were in that final Davion Mitchell could be the next Donovan Mitchell

I think it was just an off night

yeah yeah yeah I don’t think so

So who do you have at 7 all right between just a matter of where those three guys are going to fall Scottie Barnes he’s and he’s a very good he’s a good player but but I don’t see Orlando or OKC picking him, I think the Warriors are going to take him, the Warriors would be a fool not to take him

All right so I’ve got Scotty and five you’ve got Kuminga, I’ve got Kuminga at 6 you got Davion, 7 i got Mitchell you have Barnes. He’s already 22 years old

I know but he has Championship DNA

At the college level the NBA’s littered with write-offs that were championship college guys but he’s 22

That doesn’t mean that’s because he’s 22 it doesn’t mean he’s a write off Bob I think that there’s been a lot of good players who came into the NBA.

All right well that’s that let’s move Beyond 5 6 and 7 Jim, and and jump into our last 3, 8, 9 and 10 I got 8, going to the Magic I’ve got James Bouknight,  I can see I see that he immediately sures up the depth of their defense at the wing position will also adding some scoring punch on the perimeter what do you say?

I’ve got Moses Moody he is your typical great 3 & D guy on steroids to the normal 3 in D guys are role-players Moody, he could be great starter he’ll be if you could be a great 6th Man or a good starter Moses Moody just seems like it just seems like the right option for for Orlando because because Orlando is going to be picking Kuminga at 5

You mean Barnes?

I mean Kuminga. They need their point guard, Moses Moody he just seems like the right option

All right well I what about them so where do you have Bouknight?

Number Nine.

Number nine right, I have Jalen Johnson, he has a great offensive Instinct,.

I think Bob’s got his Jalen’s mixed up. I have Bouknight, I think he’s a boom-or-bust guy but and it’s a risk putting them in this list he could go anywhere from 6 to 16th I think that as I said he’ll be he’ll be a boom-or-bust really.

I’ll give you that think that Moses Moody is going to sneak into this list at the top 10 at the 10 spot so they are going to the New Orleans Pelicans good shooting range be good enough he could be a good defensive player I think.

I don’t think the table Johnson’s going to go into the top 10, I think the 10th is going to be something who has NBA DNA,  Franz Wagner brother of Moritz Wagner I’m sorry it’s just he is a very good oversized forward who will cause nightmares in the mismatch.

Can’t see it happening again

I know it’s hard for you to imagine the Pelicans picking someone called Franz but he’s the right option.

I’ve got Bouknight, Johnson, Moody.

I’ve got Moody, Bouknight, Wagner.

All right so that’s going to be it for the the top 10 draft picks from the 2021 draft Jim and I are both really looking forward to it you know there should be a lot of really good talented young guys that we’re going to watch the next and 15 and maybe some cases 20 years in the league. Y

ep I know Bob’s going to be wrong so I think you can you can start the celebration parties for me folks but yeah I can see you on Friday we’re going to react to our predictions we’re going to see who was who’s right and who’s wrong then on Saturday ,week today we’re going to get out another draft post me the winners losers surprises, unrelated to this contest. I hope you enjoyed the reading, and bye.
