FIFA 22: What We Know About Ultimate Team So Far
By Jim James
It is rare that this site addresses its gaming community, so I thought that I would today, with a FIFA 22, or more accurately, FUT 22 post. We will showcase everything we know about the game, 3 (I Know!) Days before it is scheduled to release early access.
FIFA is a game that I’ve played a lot over the past 3.5 years, and the release of a new one is always a unique experience. To play around with the (rarely) new menus, features and gameplay is always intriguing and fun.
I’ve been a FIFA player since FIFA 18 was in its mid-stage and got an EA account a year later. That means I’ve been around to see the releases of FIFA 19, 20, and 21. However, I have never followed news about the new game as closely as I have this year. The Unorthodox absence of a Demo or proper ratings drop seems lazy, I have no doubt in my mind that this will be the BEST FIFA YET. All that being said, here is all that we know about FIFA 22 Ultimate Team so far
- Ratings
The past 7 days have been large ones in terms of ratings, with EA first releasing their tres controversial top 22, which saw Leo Messi atop with 93, Robert Lewandowski second with 92, and Cristiano Ronaldo drop to 91, the same rating as players like Kylian Mbappe, Kevein De Bruyne, Neymar, and Jan Oblak. Mohamed Salah got downgraded to an 89, even after scoring 22 last season, Gigi Donnarumma got upgraded massively to an 89 as well, and after excellent campaigns for Real Madrid & France, Karim Benzema stayed the same at an 89. A few days later, a site revealed the top 1000, where it was revealed that 38-year old center back Pepe, was upgraded from 66 to 80 pace, the most it had ever been in his career, 2 less than a downgraded Gareth Bale, whose pace and rating was 82. Leon Goretzka’s 87-rated card made history, being the first Base Card to join the “Gullit Gang”, cards that were 80 rated or above in all categories. He was just one of many new cards surfacing that are going to be beasts come Wednesday, including 86-rated Marcos Llorente, 79-rated Allan Saint-Maximin, and another year of being op for now 84-rated Wissam Ben Yedder.
2. New Features
Something that wasn’t released so recently are the new features for FUT 22, introducing the new system for packs, and the full debut of the Pack Preview feature, and a total restructure of Division Rivals & FUT Champions, even more customization options for your stadium, and of course, the new FUT Heroes promo, and a leaked Adidas All-Stars promo, with the final feature being a Pro Clubs-esque Co-Op battles feature. All of which are welcome features in my opinion, and will add a fresh look to the new game.
3. Packs
While the new pack animation is ambiguous on what it will actually be, with 2 different animations already featuring in the Beta, one focused on a Purple light flashing before the pack reveals itself to indicate a walkout, almost like the wait before a pack in FIFA 17, and one focused on yellow & red flares. EA has come out and said that the animation in the Beta was just used to test Next-Gen console speed, but didn’t specify which one, although I’m believing that it is either that the Purple flash is out and the flares are in, or that both are out, and we don’t know yet what it is.
That would conclude what I know about FIFA 22, stay tuned, as I plan to post a review of the game in the next week once I get my hands on Early Access, and see you soon!
