Jim James’ Football Predictions for 2022

Jim James’ Football Predictions for 2022

By Jim James

Hello everybody, welcome back to the blog, for the first annual Football Predictions! We’re making predictions on the year ahead. This year is set to be one of the biggest years in the history of the beautiful game, and I’m all in for it! Let’s get started with the predictions!

#1: The Leagues

EPL: After a suspension of the league, Manchester City wins it. They’re already miled ahead, and I can’t see anyone else winning it. What I can see, though is a league suspension during AFCON. It reduces the blow of AFCON for Liverpool and Chelsea, but Man City will still be well ahead, and too far ahead.

La Liga: Real Madrid wins it. They’re 1st right now, even though they lost to Getafe, they’ll recover well and win it by a nose ahead of 2nd place Sevilla and 3rd place Atlético.

Serie A: Juventus goes on a hot streak in 2022, like Barca did in the first half of 2021, but also like Barca, it’s not enough. Inter goes back-to-back.

Ligue 1: PSG. Do I really have to explain?

Bundesliga: Bayern. Again, obvious.

#2: European Competition

Champions League: It’s Bayern vs Man City in the final, and after a brace from Lewandowski and goals from Sane and Sterling, Bayern win 3-1.

Europa League: Barcelona vs Dortmund. Barca score first through Ansu Fati, but Erling Haaland awakens and scores 2, and assists 1. A late goal by Ferran Torres isn’t enough, 3-2 Dortmund.

Conference League: Leicester vs Roma in the final. Jamie Vardy scores on the cusp of half time, and Tammy Abraham scores in the 82nd minute. It goes to extra time, where Felix Afenya-Gyan scores to make it 2-1, and Chris Smalling seals it in the 117th minute. 3-1 Roma in the final.

#3: Summer Transfers

Mbappe joins Real Madrid on a free, but then again, Paul the Octopus could predict that.

Haaland joins Barcelona for 75m. They qualify for the Champions League, and after a massive fire sale bag Haaland.

Kane joins Man City. They finally get the skipper for 150m on Summer Deadline Day.

Frenkie de Jong joins Man U for 80m. Barca don’t see the need for him anymore, and sell him to the Red Devils.

Goncalo Ignacio joins Man City for 60m. An odd player to mention, yes, but he’ll be one of the bigger transfers of the summer.

Memphis Depay joins Chelsea for 45m. Barca need to raise funds for the Erling Haaland deal and Chelsea need a striker. You’ll see why soon.

Romelu Lukaku joins Inter again for 65m. Tuchel freezes him out of the team Aubameyang style and he goes back to the club that he loves.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang joins Juventus for 30m. Arteta feels like they had just better sell him for whatever money they can, so he sells him to Juventus as they too need a striker.

Paulo Dybala joins Spurs for free. They need a striker after the Harry Kane sale and sign him.
