Sunday. That is the date to watch for the Kylian Mbappe saga that has been taking over the football world, and now that Erling Haaland has been announced as a Man City player, this has been the main story for the last 2 weeks. Earlier this week it was announced that Real Madrid were “more confident than ever” about the signing, but after a revised offer PSG are back in it and the situation is about 50/50. However, today I’ll explain why he should remain loyal and stay in the French Capital.
- The money
If Kylian Mbappe stays at PSG, he will be set for the future, no matter what he chooses. He will be making a reported €4 million PER MONTH, amounting to €48 million every season. That would be more than enough for the rest of his life and retirement, and he could make happen pretty much anything he pleases. This would be a no-brainer on the money side. Kylian said it’s not about the money? Ok, here’s a few more reasons then.
- The power
Also in the reported contract offer by PSG, Kylian Mbappe gets a say in the managers, players, and backroom staff PSG sign. You can’t do that at Real Madrid. No, PSG’s offering him a one-of-a-kind contract that he surely cannot refuse. If Mbappe wants to be a staff member, maybe a manager after his playing days, he could get some good practice with this deal.
- No Hassle
This is one of the main reasons most players extend their deals, and while it is the most basic one, it is a valid point all the same. If Kylian Mbappe extends his deal, he stays in Paris, he doesn’t have to move himself and his family, and while it would be easier to move at the age of 23 rather than 33, he’d have to wave goodbye to the friends he’d had made for 5 years and go house hunting, which isn’t very fun, and implement himself in a whole new environment. He’s lived in France all his life, and it might not be quite a smooth transition going to Spain, where he’d have to learn a whole new culture, mannerisms, language than he’s had in France.
- Trophies
If he wants to add as many trophies to his already staggering collection of 5 Ligue 1s, 8 Domestic French Cups, and a World Cup, PSG is the place to be. They should be winning the domestic quadruple every year (League, French Cup, French League Cup, French Super Cup), and they can go all out for trophies with the loads of money that they have. I know it’s not smart to challenge Real Madrid when it comes to Champions Leagues, but times have changed. It’s not the ‘50s anymore, and PSG’s bad luck streak will eventually end in Europe’s biggest competition. Mbappe could realistically see his trophy cabinet of 17 skyrocket if he signs the new deal.
- French National Team
We don’t like to admit it, I know, but NT Managers prefer players who play in the country over foreign ones. Just ask Karim Benzema and Franck Ribery how they got on for the National Team playing in foreign lands. I know there have been many success stories, but if you want to be known as one of the greats for the French squad, you should realistically play in France.
That’s all, folks. That is why Kylian Mbappe should stay at Paris Saint-Germain. 5 Good reasons, I believe, and we’ll have to see on Sunday, won’t we? Read Bob’s post on why he should sign for Real Madrid if you haven’t already, I’m Jim James, until next time.
