I guess we’re pawns

Jim James

Kyrie Irving came right out a few weeks ago and added another statement to his long list of controversial statements. He put a statement out on why he isn’t speaking to the media, which is perfectly fine, his choice is his, but in the last paragraph of this statement he ended with the controversial, and frankly disgusting and offensive to us that haven’t spent 20,000 hours shooting hoops in our lifetimes, stating “I don’t talk to pawns. My attention is worth more.”

Now I would understand if he was a mentally stable top 10 all time NBA player who misses less than 5 games all season, is a natural born leader, was going through a tough time and was being bombarded by questions, but this is a barely top 20 NBA player who had just missed some games, was fined for $10,000 and was just being asked to answer a couple media questions. To put it bluntly: Kyrie Irving went berserk and was totally unjustified to do so.

This man thinks the world is FLAT. Despite COUNTLESS evidence suggesting otherwise he still thinks so.

There are a few things that we can take away from this outburst, and a few questions we still have. We can take away that Kyrie Irving has a very, very short temper, and hates talking to pawns. We can also take away that he will probably lie for most of the rest of his career to the media, unless he finally opens the blinders and discovers what is right.

What classifies as a pawn? I wouldn’t just think it is the chess piece. I would be led to believe that it would be Basketball journalists like Bob and I. So that is personal.

The moral of the story is that even though they are elite professional athletes, it doesn’t mean that they are good people.
