Reacting to trades on TradeNBA.com (now Fanspo.com) Part 2
I remember when, back in the ancient times (February) when I reacted to fan made trades on tradeNBA.com. A lot has happened since then, including the site being renamed to fanspo.com. However, 3 trades is what we will look at today, and grade the trades for the teams involved. Here we go!
Trade #1: by User Travers Woodward
PHI receive: Buddy Hield, Kyle Lowry (sign-and-trade), #9 pick 2021
SAC receive: Ben Simmons
TOR receive: George Hill, Marvin Bagley III, SAC 2023 1st (Lotto protected)
PHI trade grade: C
This would be good if a team like toronto would get this deal, and you gotta love the KLo homecoming, but this trade doesn’t represent the Sixers’ intentions as a Basketball club. A 34 year old with a failing role player along with the #9 pick for Ben Simmons & George Hill? It is bad for even a rebuilder, never mind a contender.
SAC trade grade: B+
No one expected that SacMo would get a star like Ben Simmons without having to give up players like Bagley & Hield. They’re not magicians. However, with the players that they still do have, this drastically speeds up the rebuild. A great trade for them
TOR trade grade: A
*Jaw drops to the floor* Masai Ujuri & Bobby Webster are geniuses. Not only do they manage to get something from Kyle Lowry who they were going to lose for nothing anyway, they get the #3 pick 3 years ago & a 1st round pick. A mastermind.
Trade #2 by user DomasEmbiidplz
POR receive: Myles Turner, Ben Simmons, PHI 2022, 2024, 2026, & 2028 unprotected 1st round picks
NOP receive: Seth Curry, Derrick Jones Jr
IND receive: Chris Boucher, Ty Maxey
PHI receive: Damian Lillard MIL via NOP 2025 unprotected 1st round pick
TOR receive: Steven Adams, CLE via NOP 2022 2nd round pick, ATL/CHA/BKL via PHI 2023 2nd round pick
POR trade grade: A-
Well, I’d say a good return for Damian Lillard & Derrick Jones Jr, what’d you think? A very solid center, an All Star point guard, and 4 unprotected picks. Simmons & McCollum would make a nice 1-2 guard duo and Myles Turner would fill in the void at the 5.
NOP trade grade: D+
No. Just No. Sure, it’s only a few pieces, but it’s a poor return for Steven Adams and a 1st and 2nd rounder. However, not much to say about it as it’s a pretty much nothing deal.
IND trade grade: C+
A poor deal, but it’s better than New Orleans. Although they lost one of their main pieces, they got a solid & young replacement in return. Again though, a pretty much nothing deal.
PHI trade grade: B
The only reason it isn’t higher is all the picks. Ok, Lillard & Embiid look very scary together, but trading Ben Simmons, & 4 unprotected picks is always a recipe for disaster.
TOR trade grade: B+
Another solid piece of work here. Sure, I’m sad to see Chris Boucher go, but Steven Adams is more than consolation. A very good player to fill our void at the 5 spot.
Those were the 2 trades in today’s reaction, stay tuned for the next one!
