Adama Traore: The Exact Player Barca Need Right Now

By Jim James

With Adama Traore currently in the City of Barcelona for his medical, and a transfer could be announced as I write this, but WHAT A FLIPPING DEAL. Adama Traore is one of the fastest players in the world, some amazing dribbling skills, and a physique that makes Cristiano Ronaldo look like Sergio Busquets. In this post I’m going to convince you that Adama Traore is the exact player FC Barcelona need right now.

Speed

What Adama Traore is known for best is his speed, and before Alphonso Davies came along, Adama Traore was thought of as the fastest player in the world, some argue he still is. Barca are a team heavily lacking in speed right now, with their only two players who are remotely above average in speed right now are Ousmane Dembele and Sergino Dest. For a team like Barca, Speed is something they need and Adama Traore can provide it by the boatload.

Dribbling

Barca are, I admit, a pass-heavy team, but they have been tres boring most of the time, so they need a player like Adama to bring a Messi-like spark of life to their attack. I’m not saying that he WILL become Lionel Messi, that’s way too high expectations, especially for a Barca attacking signing, but he can be a game changer nonetheless.

The Barca Energy

Believe it or not, this isn’t Adama Traore’s first stint as a Barca player. He actually played for Barca for 11 whole years. He signed for Barcelona’s youth team at the age of 8, and left at age 19 after just 1 game for the senior squad. In the summer of 2015, Barca sold him to Aston Villa, and inserted a 3-year buy back clause that expired in 2018, and obviously didn’t take it. I’m getting off the subject here. The point is, having learned the Barca way for 11 whole years, and being with the team through 4 Champions League wins, Adama knows a thing or two about prime Barca, a trait hard to come by in the current squad. This could be an underrated addition by the Spaniard.

How would Adama affect FC Barcelona?

Essentially, Adama Traore is a Poor Man’s Alphonso Davies. A fitting term when describing Barcelona these days. Anyway, as versatile as Adama is, he’s most likely to play forward. Xavi has been wanting a forward the whole season and Traore is a good fit there. He is also a good makeshift Right Back if anything happens to Dest or Dani Alves. His attacking contributions could help Barca push it over the line in their remaining fixtures. I really wanted FC Barcelona to sign one Inaki Williams from Bilbao as an attacking signing for this exact reason. Even if we couldn’t get Inaki, Adama Traore is a compromise that is 1 million percent okay by me.

While this transfer hasn’t been announced yet we know that it will be soon. If it isn’t announced today there’s a 90% chance it will be tomorrow. These clubs aren’t messing around with their transfers this window. This is Jim James, Until Next Time.
